Left Behind

When the family moved out, they forgot a lamp and a teddy bear. The lamp was kind of old and dusty, and the teddy bear had only one eye and some stuffing coming out. They used to sit in the corner of the kid’s room, right next to each other. After everyone left, the house got really quiet. No more running around or bedtime stories. Just empty. The lamp blinked a little, still plugged in. “Did they leave us on purpose?” The teddy bear didn’t move. “I don’t know… maybe they just forgot.” Time passed. The room got darker and dustier. No one came. The teddy bear started to feel sad. The lamp tried to stay hopeful, but it was hard.

Then one day, a new family walked in. A little boy came into the room and found them. He picked up the teddy bear. “Hey, look at this!” he said. Then he turned on the lamp and it still worked. They weren’t alone anymore.

More engineering, reflections, and fiction.
